La Noche en Blanco of San Cristóbal de La Laguna was first held in 2009. The aim is to mark the start of the Christmas shopping season by a great street festival with the participation of all the social and economic agents. Also, it is a good chance for shops to show their new products.
Every year there is a creative, innovative programme that includes enough attractions to draw large numbers of people. This is a joint effort of the public administration and business, cultural and social associations.
Cultural events take place on the streets, public spaces which are not usually visited are open, there are activities for children and families, sports and solidarity activities. This is all done to make the open shopping area in the town centre look its best with an eye on the upcoming Christmas shopping campaign, the most important in the year.
