There are numerous and varied festivities throughout the year in the municipality. Each town has its moment in the spotlight. Many of them have been declared Assets of Cultural Interest due to their faithful reflection of our traditions, bringing together a large number of participants that increases year after year, adding value for visitors.

San Isidro is celebrated on 15 May and, due to his profession as a farmer, he is considered the patron saint of farmers and is venerated in many villages with processions in which the fields are blessed. In the municipality, this celebration takes the form of a pilgrimage. It is a representation of the Guanche beñesmen that was performed to give thanks for the harvest. Among the places where it is celebrated are El Pico, Valle de Guerra, Las Mercedes and Guamasa.

In June, various pilgrimages are also held in honour of Saint John. In Punta del Hidalgo, he is popularly known as San Juanito. On the 23rd, Mass is celebrated, followed by a pilgrimage procession from the Church of San Mateo to his chapel on the coast. A musical parade enlivens the walk, which gives way at night to the burning of bonfires where corn cobs are roasted. This celebration also takes place in Bajamar.

Another festival in August is the Santísimo Cristo del Gran Poder de Dios festival in Bajamar. This celebration takes place in the third week of August and includes religious and popular events such as the Folk Festival, the Cuban Festival and the drag queen contest.

In September, the patron saint’s festival takes place in honour of Saint Matthew the Apostle in Punta del Hidalgo. Religious ceremonies are mixed with popular celebrations. Among these events, the Haragán parade stands out (a rag doll filled with firecrackers that explode when burned), symbolising the end of the festive period.
